December 2009

December opens with Uranus going direct at 2:27 pm CST December 1 followed by the full Moon in Gemini at 1:30 am CST on December 2. Uranus changing his direction usually brings us a jolt or surprise and the full Moon brings our emotions to full tilt. News is sure to be startling or even shocking. Those of us born at the first of any month are most affected by the full Moon. Issues, that were not resolved last month, come back to be hashed over once again - so strive to get it right this time.

Throughout December we continue to feel the affects of Saturn in Libra squaring Pluto in Capricorn. Since both planets are in cardinal signs we are faced with balancing restrictions we experience with the need to transform our lives. This is not an easy aspect that is quite evidenced by the high unemployment rate and the lack of confidence in the status quo. Influence is being peddled with ardor as those who desire change battle those who are afraid to change their ways. In our individual lives we are compelled to move away from situations that no longer serve us.

In the days around December 7, Mercury conjuncts Pluto and squares Saturn. Rhetoric and lobbying of all sorts are sure to be intense. Everyone will have an idea as to what needs to be changed. The challenge will be to create compromise in a climate when most do not want to make any concessions. This might be a good time to take action when you know you can make a difference and accept that which you cannot change at least for the time being.

Once the Sun moves into Capricorn December 21 and Venus enters Capricorn December 25 they both cross over Pluto and square Saturn through the end of the month. This aspect highlights the intensity between Saturn in Pluto and brings to the forefront situations and relationships that now require adjusting. Many of us become aware of our or others’ jealous or unsavory behavior and come to terms with changes we can make within ourselves and what we expect from others. This is not a time to hang out with ne’er do wells and all are warned to use caution to avoid accidents. Events that occur during the last two weeks of December are a glimpse of what we can expect next late June and early July.

As the days of December progress to the week of the 20th ; Jupiter approaches and conjuncts Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius. Plus, he is just thirty degrees from Uranus in Pisces. This auspicious aspect kicks us out of our battle for our individual desires replacing those wants with a sense of compassion, empathy, and connection with our fellow beings. Mars in Leo, is coming just short of opposing the Jupiter, Chiron, Uranus connection and this further enhances our willingness to act for the good of all. This is sure to bring about social progress on the larger stage of life and in our individual lives, but the resistance will be as strong as the desire for progress.

Mars moving through Leo since October 16, goes retrograde December 20 to March 10. While Mars is retrograde we will want to rethink our approach to one or more situations. For some of us, our confidence may wane while others are easily angered. The months ahead have us fluctuating in our energy and actions. Mars is an assertive planet but while he is retrograde we do well to hold off on new beginnings. This is no time for dicey ventures or risky business as most new beginnings are based on impulsive desires.

Additionally, Mercury turns retrograde December 26 until January 15 in Capricorn. Mercury is a tricky and playful planet and he insists we pay close attention to the details of life. Otherwise, he plays with our gadgets, our schedules, and our relationships just to see if we are concentrating. Mercury retrograde in Capricorn feeds nervousness about our jobs and careers. While Mercury is retrograde, pause to reflect on past actions so that you can make changes and corrections. This is no time to fall down on follow-through, as you are sure to receive bad press for those shortcomings.

The last full Moon of 2009 is a lunar eclipse at ten degrees Cancer on December 31 at 1:13 pm. Since this is the second full Moon of the month we call it a Blue Moon. This particular full Moon is opposite Pluto, Venus, and the Sun in Carpricorn, all the while squaring Saturn in Libra. This triangular aspect will compel us to seek resolution. Many of us will feel the need to come to terms with some situation that has most likely been building up over the past several months. Emotions are sure to be palpable over the next several months. Take your time before making big decisions and be sure that you can live with the consequences of those decisions before acting rashly.

December 1 - Mercury in Sagittarius is sixty degrees from Neptune in Aquarius. Mercury is communication and Neptune is inspirational. Today is the full Moon and that can bring emotions to a fever pitch. Take a deep breath and speak from the heart in order make any point. Trips short or long inspire us to take positive action in our lives.

Venus enters Sagittarius until December 25. Venus is a lot better in Sadge than in Scorpio. Sagittarius, Aries, and Leo are looking good and even though many of us are trudging through economic trials, this transit of Venus promises a social holiday season. Trips with a special someone are favored. Spontaneous celebrations occur and many of us are able to step away from those we know in order to meet new and different people.

December 4 - Venus is sixty degrees from Saturn in Libra. Many of us are figuring out what we want and how to go about getting it. Take responsibility for your actions. Wise decisions and consideration of others’ point of view boosts us to our desired goals.

December 5 - Mercury enters Capricorn and turns retrograde December 26. While Mercury is direct in this sign we are able to get our point across with a voice of authority. Idle chatter will not weigh well-so get down to brass tacks. Those who need the patience to get a job done can withstand any test of time or physical stamina. Capricorn, Virgo, and Taurus are especially blessed with this transit and can get their way with the right plan and smart words. Aries, Cancer, and Libra will have to practice patience to make any situation work well for them.

December 10 - The Sun in Sagittarius is one hundred twenty degrees from Mars in Leo.This high energetic aspect is especially beneficial for Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. All of us can employ our creative hutzpah to perform tasks and get our way.

December 14 - The Sun in Sagittarius is ninety degrees from Uranus in Pisces and sixty degrees from Jupiter in Aquarius. The Sun and Uranus provide unexpected events and even accidents. However, since the Sun is also angling Jupiter most events are sure to work out in our best interest no matter how scary they seem when they initially occur.

December 15 - The Sun still in Sagittarius is sixty degrees from Neptune in Aquarius. Many of us will be feeling introspective while others of us will be feeling lost. Today is the last day before the new Moon. Forget any expectation that much will get going. Time spent alone or in study is one of the best uses for this slow day.

December 16 - The new Moon occurs 6:02 am CST in Sagittarius. Sagdge rules our sense of optimism and adventure in the big picture of life. Get started before the 20th on projects and dreams that include travel, education, and writing projects.

December 17 - 20 - Venus in Sagittarius is one hundred twenty degrees from Mars in Leo, ninety degrees from Uranus in Pisces, and sixty degrees from Jupiter and Neptune. Those who have holiday parties during these days are sure to be pleased with the results. Guests are sure to make great connections; some of which are quite harmonious. It will be safe to be ourselves with those we meet. All of us must determine how to spend our money, as the impulse to buy could be detrimental. However, some lucky deals will be too good to pass up-so take a deep breath before taking any plunge. Most activities should be put on hold December 18 after 2:07 pm CST until December 19 at 4:39 am CST.

December 21-The Sun enters Capricorn at 11:47 am CST. This is the shortest day of the year also known as the Winter Solstice. We now begin the climb towards the longest day of the year next June. While the Sun transits Capricorn until January 19 we will be assessing our worth and what is right and correct in our lives. Now is the time for Capricorn to get supercharged in order to handle the tasks of the next twelve months. Virgo and Taurus are blessed for the most part with a sense of ease while Aries, Cancer, and Libra will tend to feel out of whack due to the angle the Sun forms to their sign.

Sagittarius, Nov 22 - Dec 21

The days until December 20 have Sagittarius feeling confident and ready to tackle the big plans. Your goals are changing along with your friendships. It will be easy to move on from situations that no longer work to your benefit. Now is the time to improve the ways you are prioritizing your life. Make the most of your sex appeal at mid month. At that time you can get your way in almost any situation. Once Mars goes retrograde December 20 your optimism subsides to a flicker. Stand by your beliefs as they will be questioned through springtime. In-laws and the third child are sure to provide difficulties. Capricorn, Dec 22 - Jan 19

Consider the importance of every step you take throughout December. Goats, especially those born around the winter solstice are especially aroused to take charge in the face of life’s burdens and challenges. The power is shifting in your life and now is the time to put plans and experience into action. Your good sense and wise actions take you far if you put aside compulsive behavior. Get as much done as possible before December 26. After that you will have a time-out until mid January. Get your credit in order and hold off on joint ventures until early March. Deal with stresses holistically and use caution to avoid infections this winter. Goats born around December 31 come to big conclusions concerning important relationships. Aquarius, Jan 20 - Feb 18

Aquarius is confronted partnership controversies that must be resolved through next March. Recent events have shown Aquarius that all is not quiet on any front. Wisely, sort through the baloney in order to get to the real root of conflicts. This is easier to do early in the month as opposed to later when struggles and misbehavior attempt to dominate over diplomacy. You are not necessarily the one at fault, but Aquarius must lead the way to compromise so that both you and your cohorts can accomplish the real purpose of your connection without an ego battle.
